The Onesie That Transported Me to My Wedding (Artifacts Part One)
Having a baby is undoubtedly the ride of your life, and when you are in it with babies and toddlers, it can feel like all you do is juggle a million things to survive...yet somehow time flies. Eventually you look back and realize how many great memories were created even if you were too tired or busy to realize it and enjoy them at the time. Bumping into artifacts (stuffed animals, clothes, blankets) and photos certainly helps to bring back memories of those moments you weren't able to soak in during the chaos. Which is why we created The Ultimate Baby Book...to help parents celebrate and remember this most special time in your lives.
We asked some of our UBB parents what specific items may immediately conjure up a specific memory from when their kiddos were babies or toddlers….
"The giant Costco bear he got for Christmas that is sporting plus size women’s overalls and is now propped up next to his bed in case he rolls out."
"I got married later than most of my friends, so by the time my wedding rolled around there were nine babies under the age of one year in attendance. It was such a joy to celebrate each one of them being born while I planned my wedding. My friends surprised me at the rehearsal dinner with their babies sporting these adorable onesies - Babies for Bekki! Years later, I put my own baby in the onesie and it brought everything back full circle. It's funny how babies can connect people and make events that much more special."
"We had our second kid when our oldest wasn't even two, and we were worried about the transition for her. Of course we got the advice that the baby should "give" the older sibling a gift at the hospital so that the older one will feel fondly toward the new baby. Our baby gave the older one a bunch of Sesame Street figurines. The kids are now old enough that no one really cares about Sesame Street, but I still keep a few around the house because I love the memory of that momentous time. And for the record, the kids don't really get along!”
What artifacts bring up the most memories for you? What's something you'll likely hold onto even when your baby isn't using it anymore?
